The schools that comprise the Miami Valley Conference have set a standard of excellence at the small school level in the state of Ohio. Although each school holds its own series of awards ceremonies, it was felt that member schools should celebrate in unison as well. The students and coaches honored at these ceremonies have achieved success, which benefits the entire league. It is the hope of the athletic directors and league officers that these ceremonies will allow our students and parents the opportunity to support each other while reflecting again on another successful season for the member schools of the Miami Valley Conference.
The James Wright Award is given to those coaches who demostrated excellence in coaching for the past season regardless of record. Each winner is nominated by his/her respective athletic director. The award is named after the retired athletic director and coach from Cincinnati Country Day whose work and guidance over the years served a great value to both Cinciannti Country Day Schools and the Miami Valley Conference.
The Hirsch Award is given to an athlete or coach who displays courage in the face of extremely difficult odds. Each winner is nominated by his/her respective Athletic Director. The award is named after current Cincinnati Country Day Athletic Director, Theresa Hirschauer whose courageous fight against cancer has been an inspiration to all who know her.
